A Million Reasons to Give
Laura Larimer is the Senior Development Officer at ExpandED Schools.
Engineering simple machines, singing in a school play, documenting their lives on film … our students are one in a million. And that’s especially true this school year as we are poised to reach our millionth student!
But we can’t reach this important milestone alone, which is why we are kicking off our year-end appeal and asking supporters to mark #GivingTuesday on their calendars (one week from today!) We want to close the learning gap for our millionth student and we need your help.
Why is it so important to expand opportunities for kids in New York City’s neediest neighborhoods? Children born into poverty are likely to experience a 6,000-hour learning gap by the time they reach 6th grade.
We work every single day to close that gap by expanding the school day and providing enriched learning like robotics, drama and filmmaking, and exposing kids to an array of role models such as coaches, tutors and teaching artists.
Our students are one in a million. You can be one for a million. Help us reach our millionth student by giving today.
We thank you … and the nearly million students whose futures we’ve brightened thank you, too.
