Over the last two decades, ExpandED Schools’ program, research and policy efforts have led to increased recognition of the academic, social, and emotional benefits of afterschool, increased funding, and new models for school-community partnership. The pandemic further highlighted the importance of academic and SEL support as well as ExpandED’s vital function in providing high-quality learning activities.

ExpandED Schools is seeking a Temporary Field Specialist to assist in monitoring Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP) youth and worksites. This is a part-time position from March-June with up to 28 hours available per week and full-time from July-August.

Purpose of Position

In our sector focus SYEP allocation, students who complete year round training opportunities are connected to SYEP internships within their sector focus. During the spring, Field Specialists will support the document collection for SYEP participants. During the summer, Field Specialists will conduct 10-15 site visits weekly t0 monitor student’s placements.

Duties and Responsibilities

●     Track virtual collection of SYEP enrollment documents via Airtable

●     Track collection and completion of Worksite Agreements

●     Verify timesheet information for youth payroll

●     Conduct site visits to in-person worksites

●     Meet with youth employees (individually and in groups) and supervisors as needed to trouble-shoot, address administrative questions and generally strengthen the relationship between worksites and ExpandED Schools

●     Write brief site visit reports each week to report observations made during site visits.

Desired Qualifications:

●    Commitment to educational equity

●    High School Diploma and work experience within the nonprofit sector

●    Experience working in education and /or youth development; knowledge of principles of youth development

●   Experience with administering SYEP a plus

●    Strong interpersonal and excellent communication skills, both oral and written

●    Attention to detail and high standards for presentation of written materials

●    Ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment

●    Proficiency with the Microsoft Suite (Word, Outlook, Excel) is required

●    Desire to work collaboratively and participate as a member of a diverse team

Compensation: $26.75/hour. Field Specialists will also receive a monthly MetroCard from June-August.
