The Lit C.R.E.W. Makeup Training is an in-person professional development experience designed to help educators implement the Lit C.R.E.W. instructional model with clarity and confidence. Participants engage in the whole session flow, including Connect, Read to Research, Explore, and Wrap-Up. The training highlights how to practice building background knowledge, intentional vocabulary, facilitate purposeful reading through research questions, and guide small-group exploration focused on theme, character, or setting. Literacy Educators will also learn how to utilize Lit C.R.E.W.’s literacy-through-the-arts approach, integrating visual art, digital media, journalism, and performing arts to deepen comprehension and expression. By the end of the training, educators leave with practical tools, facilitation strategies, and a clear roadmap for supporting student literacy, creativity, and critical thinking.
As a reminder, Literacy Educators have a contractual obligation to complete the Lit C.R.E.W. training provided by ExpandED. If a Literacy Educator missed the initial training or has not yet completed a Lit C.R.E.W. introduction, they must attend this session.
