Join us on November 4th in person at the ExpandED Schools Office, 218 W. 40th Street, 12th Floor. New York, NY 10018, from 10:00 am -1:00 pm for a dynamic work session focused on mood. “Mood” is the feeling or atmosphere an author creates through the use of setting, word choice, and details. It’s what makes a story feel suspenseful, joyful, or eerie. When students understand mood, they can better analyze how authors influence readers and learn to set the tone in their own writing.
This session will explore:
- Vocabulary – words that convey feelings and emotions.
- Building Background Knowledge – linking text to music, art, and visuals that create atmosphere.
- Skill Building – activities that help students identify and create mood across different genres.
Please note: Registration will close on Thursday, November 6th. All attendees must register.
