New York, NY, March 24, 2023 – ExpandED Schools, a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing enriching learning opportunities and building a system of school-community partnerships for all New York City children to thrive, will celebrate its 25th Anniversary Gala on May 9, 2023, at Ascent Lounge, 10 Columbus Circle, 4th Floor, New York, NY 10019.
The gala will honor Roger Blissett, Managing Director & Head of Regulatory Legal Affairs Americas at MUFG and long-time board member and supporter of ExpandED Schools, and will also celebrate the legacy of former ExpandED Schools board members Jay Kriegel and Herb Sturz, who were fundamental in launching TASC (The After School Corporation, now known as ExpandED Schools). The event will also pay tribute to the memory of Paulo Pena––a tremendous advocate for children and a warm and optimistic board member.
“We are thrilled to celebrate 25 years of incredible impact with our supporters and friends,” said Saskia Traill, Ph.D., President and CEO of ExpandED Schools. “Over the past quarter-century, we have built a system of partnerships between schools and community organizations that have helped more than one million children thrive. I am so grateful for the generosity of our supporters to help make our work possible, and we look forward to expanding and deepening our impact in the years to come.”
As Board Chair, Brandon Robinson, Managing Director at J.P. Morgan Asset Management, expressed his enthusiasm for the event and the organization’s impact over the years: “ExpandED Schools has been instrumental in improving the lives of New York City’s young people. We are proud of our accomplishments and look forward to continuing to support the organization’s important work.”
The event will feature an address from Roger Blissett, who said, “I am deeply honored and humbled to be recognized by ExpandED Schools at their 25th Anniversary Gala. It has been rewarding to serve on its Board in pursuit of our mutual commitment to improving educational equity for historically underserved communities, and I look forward to continuing to support their efforts.”
The gala will be co-hosted by Lucy & William Friedman, Susan Egbert and Tony Gilroy, Randy & Rona Nelson, David & Faith Pedowitz, Brandon & Rebecca Robinson, and Michel Zaleski. All proceeds will support the organization’s mission to create more opportunities for young people to thrive in and out of the classroom.
